Week of November 30th - December 5th

The High School girls basketball team will begin their season this weekend at home with contests against Arvada/Clearmont and Farson. The Arvada/Clearmont game will be on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. (December 4th). The Farson game will also be at home and is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. (December 5th). The only other contest scheduled for this weekend involves the Junior High boys basketball team and they are on the road at Shoshoni for games at 5:30/6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 3rd.

Meeteetse boys basketball update: We continue to be in need of players. We need five boys on the floor in order to to begin the game. At the present time we will be unable compete. This means that we will have to forfit our entire schedule, causing tremendus future scheduling problems. We are continuing our efforts to have a successful season.

Week of November 16 - 21.

The Junior High boys basketball team will take on Rocky Mountain and Ten Sleep this weekend. The Rocky Mountain contest is on November 19th in Deaver with the "A" game starting at 4:30 and the "B" game at 5:30. On Friday the 20th of November, Ten Sleep comes to Meeteetse for games starting at 2:00/3:00, the "A" game being at 2:00.

Student Coucil participates in "Walk to School Day"

The Meeteetse Student Council walked to school with elementary students on a cold and snowy morning on October 28 to show support for our Meeteetse Students safety. Mr. Curtis encouraged students to think safety when walking to school and emphasized never getting in a car with a stranger, even in Meeteetse.

The Meeteetse Student Council will be representing our school this week at the annual WASC convention in Casper November 16th and 17th. Students attending are Student Council President Brodie Bennett, Student Council Vice-President Keely Newkirk, Student Council Secreatry Jessica Maurer, Student Council Treasurer Sheana Guthrie, Student Council Reporter Nikki Long and Junior Class Representative Travis Guthrie. Week of November 9 - 14

The Junior High boys basketball team will be in action this weekend. On Thursday, the 12th of November, the boys will host Cloud Peak with the "A" game at 4:30 and the "B" game at 5:30. On Friday the 13th of November, the Junior High boys go to Burlington for games at 3:00/4:00. The "A" game will be first at 3:00. A couple of reminders for everyone that the Fall Sports Awards Banquet will be on Friday, the 13th of November at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium. Also, the first day of High School girls and boys basketball practice will be on Monday, November 16th.

OPEN GYM OPPORTUNITIES

John Fernandez (Assistant Girls Basketball) will host a Basketball/Conditioning Open Gym for high school girls and boys ONLY on the following dates:

November 10: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
November 11: 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
November 12: 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM

Activity Handbook states the following:

Practice Restrictions
1. There will be no practices scheduled during school breaks or closures. Practices on Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break or Spring Break are NOT permitted. Open Gym opportunities may be available upon approval of the Superintendent to coordinate facility use and instructional practices. Once permission is obtained, all open gym opportunities and schedules must be published on the school website and Meeteetse Activity Blog one day before an open gym can take place (See Open Gym for communication details).

2. There will be no practices held on Sundays or holidays.

3. At no time are students to be left unattended in any facility.

4. Keys are not to be given to students for any reason or at any time.

5. Students absent from school may not practice on that day unless:

a. An acceptable doctor’s excuse is submitted to the activity director.

b. Permission is granted by the administration.

Open Gym
Open gym provides opportunities for individual development of an athlete’s skills and fitness. Open gym is not a team practice. The focus is on the individual; therefore the following apply:
  1. All Open Gym opportunities must be advertised on the Meeteetse Activity Blog one (1) day prior to the facility use and scheduled on the school website.
  2. The advertisement/notice must contain the following:

a. Date

b. Start and end times

c. Activity associated (volleyball, football, basketball, etc…)

d. Supervising instructor or coach

3. A certified instructor or coach must be present at all times.

4. Open gym is for current Meeteetse students ONLY! Exceptions must be on file in the office.

Meeteetse Schools Guidance Night

Students and parents 7-12 are encouraged to attend the annual Meeteetse Schools Guidance Night Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 5:00 in the cafeteria. Important opportunities and career planning information will be provided including: Testing, BOE, College admissions, Trio and GEAR UP program information, Military Options, Hathaway Scholarship, and Financial Aid. Activities from November 2nd - 7th.

Congratulations to the High School volleyball and football teams! The only Meeteetse athletic team competing this weekend will be the Junior High boys basketball team. The boys play Rocky Mountain at home this Thursday, the 5th of November, with the "A" game at 4:30 and the "B" game at 5:30. On Friday, the 6th of November, the boys go to Ten Sleep for an "A" game at 3:00 and 2 quarters of "B" game following the "A" game.
